Hi there my brother is interested in becoming an electrician, how hard is it to become an electrician? Is there a lot of classroom work? He likes working with his hands and I think he would enjoy working in the trades.
    Thank you

Hi many electricians learn their trade either working on the job or through an apprenticeship program. While I’m not an electrician, I don’t think the book work is too overwhelming. Training is typically a mix of learning while working on the job and classroom instruction. Apprenticeship programs can take around 5 years to complete. Check out our electrician career page within the explore career menu (above) for more information.

Hey he could look into becoming an HVAC Tech. There is some book work but not to bad. It’s a good job and requires good troubleshooting skills.
